Our Montana Fly Fishing Guides Forecast for 2021
While it is impossible to say for sure what the river gods will bring this summer, we are currently sitting at a just below average snowpack, with a La Nina weather pattern shaping up to bring good snow in the coming months. What does this mean? We are hopeful for solid flows and cold water throughout the summer. Not too high, not too low, perfectly average which makes for usually the best fly fishing throughout the entirety of a season.
After a strong 2020 season full of great fly fishing our Montana fly fishing guides are expecting more of the same on out rivers in 2021. We expect good flows and a strong bite on the Missouri River from late April thru the end of July and again from mid September on. On the rivers in Bozeman, MT we are hopeful for a great Salmonfly hatch on the Yellowstone River and Madison River by the last week of June and great dry fly fishing thru August and into September.
