2023-24 Booking & Cancellation Policy

For Bookings Outside of 45 days:

We take a 50% booking deposit on all trips booked outside of 45 days from the first day of a scheduled trip. The remaining balance is due 45 days prior to the first day of a scheduled trip. Final payment must be received prior to services rendered. This deposit is refundable less a 20% processing fee for cancellations made outside of 45 days from the first day of a scheduled trip or a 100% credit can be carried for a future booking. Cancellations made within 45 days of the first day of a scheduled trip will result in full payment, with no refunds and no credits.

For Bookings Inside of 45 Days:

We take full payment up-front on all bookings made inside of 45 days from the first day of a scheduled trip. This payment is due at the time of booking. Cancellations made within 45 days of the first day of a scheduled trip will result in full payment, with no refunds and no credits.

For Online Bookings:

We take full payment up-front for all online bookings. All online bookings are subject to availability and confirmation by our outfitter. Guide trip fees are refundable less a 20% processing fee for cancellations made outside of 45 days from the first day of a scheduled trip or a 100% credit can be carried for a future booking. Cancellations made within 45 days of the trip will result in full payment, with no refunds and no credits.

For All Bookings:

Deposits are taken for all parts of a trip the Montana Angling Company accepts payment for. This includes, but is not limited to: guide trip fees, lodging fees, and other third-party fees. Lodging fees and other third-party fees are refundable according to the third-party’s booking and cancellation policy. Private Water Rod fees are non-refundable.

Changing the date you are booked is the same as cancelling and re-booking a separate trip. All cancellations must be given by written notice, either e-mail or by mail. The date a written cancellation notice is electronically received or postmarked will be considered the date of cancellation.

Trips may be cancelled at the discretion of the Montana Angling Company, its outfitter, or its guides at any time and all guide trip deposits and funds will be refunded. This includes but is not limited to: conditions that jeopardize client and/or guide safety, federal and/or state closures, and guide availability/illness. Trips will not be cancelled due to natural factors, including adverse weather, river conditions, and air quality.

We make no exceptions to our booking and refund policy. This includes adverse natural factors, travel changes, illness, and injuries. We encourage clients to purchase trip insurance with iTravelinsured or other major travel insurance providers if concerned about the possibility of cancellation.

We accept most major credit cards, checks, and cash for payment.

Notes:

COVID-19: Effective 1/1/2024 we will no longer offer exceptions for COVID-19. If you are concerned about the possibility of cancellation due to COVID-19, we would strongly recommend trip insurance.

Hoot-Owl Restrictions: Hoot-owl restrictions on rivers will not be considered grounds for a cancellation with refund, cancellation with a credit towards a future booking, or a change of booked dates. We will adjust timing of trips to meet at 6AM-7:00AM, which allows for an 8-hour full day trip, including transit, prior to the 2PM cut-off mandated by Montana on rivers with Hoot-owl restrictions. If an early meet is not suitable, anglers may meet later and have a shorter day or will be given the option to change full day trips to a 4-hour half day trip, and be refunded the rate difference ($100). We cannot accommodate cancellations or adjustments inside of 45-days due to Hoot-owl restrictions.

Travel Changes and Transportation: We do not offer cancellation refunds or credits for travel related changes including: flight changes, lodging changes, rental car or car service availability/pricing, and other itinerary changes. We recommend all anglers needing transportation on their trip to plan well in-advance and expect limited availability as well as above average rates at the Bozeman and Helena airports for rental cars. Montana Angling Company and our guides cannot provide anglers with transfers to/from lodging, airport, etc. Guide pick-up at lodging must be arranged prior to booking your trip and may not be available.

Booking Your Montana Fly Fishing Trip

Anglers can expect custom outfitting and personal service when booking a guided fly fishing trip with the Montana Angling Company. Our outfitter, Max Yzaguirre, handles all bookings personally and anglers will work with him to build a custom Montana fly fishing trip catering to personal preferences and requests. This could be a 10-day fly fishing adventure across all of the best trout water in Montana or a quick half-day trip to a local river, but our custom outfitting extends to all of our anglers and includes working with them to decide: where to fish, when to fish, how to fish, and where to stay.

We invite all anglers to contact us with any questions they have about our Montana fly fishing trips and guides. Our outfitter is always happy to talk fishing and assist anglers with their next Montana fly fishing trip.
