Educational Trips

The Montana Angling Company is more than just a guide service. We are also dedicated fly fishing educators who enjoy sharing our knowledge of rivers, fish, bugs, boats, and gear with the fly fishing community.

We offer educational guided fly fishing trips with a variety of emphases:

• Entomology: Learn how to identify bugs, hatches, and what the trout are feeding on.
• Rowing: Learn how to safely navigate and fly fish rivers in a drift boat.
• DIY Fly Fishing: Learn how to guide yourself. We teach you the fundamentals of reading water, fly selection, wade fishing tactics, and rigging.

Specialty Fly Fishing Trips

Montana offers freshwater anglers a wide variety of angling opportunities beyond fly fishing for trout. All of our guides are serious anglers, many of whom have experience fishing for a variety of Montana fish species including carp, pike, walleye, and perch with both conventional and fly tackle. Others have expanded their fly fishing knowledge to include modern trout-spey and euro-nymphing techniques.

Lessons

We offer private and group casting lessons for both single-handed and two-handed (spey) fly rods, as well as private and group fly tying lessons. Availability limited.
